Auntie Sue's Cafe sits quietly on Gloucester Road in Avonmouth, offering a classic take on the British greazy spoon café experience. It’s the kind of spot that doesn’t shout for attention from the outside—its unassuming exterior blends into the working-class neighborhood—but inside, it’s warm and inviting, with a no-fuss atmosphere that locals and passersby appreciate alike.

This café thrives on its straightforward approach to breakfast and simple meals. Ideal for early risers, tradespeople, or anyone needing a solid start to the day, Auntie Sue's offers hearty portions of staples like sausage and egg sandwiches, paninis with fillings such as ham and brie or tuna and cheese, as well as add-ons like crispy fried bread and bubble and squeak. The food is done with care, avoiding grease overload, which keeps the experience authentic but pleasant rather than heavy.

The vibe here is relaxed but friendly. Visitors often mention the staff’s polite and welcoming nature, which creates a sense of familiarity even for first-timers or those just stopping off on a long journey. It’s clear this café functions as a local hub for straightforward comfort food, paired with well-brewed tea or coffee. The clean setting further adds to an unpretentious but comfortable environment.

Whether you’re fueling up before a day of work, breaking up a long road trip, or just in the mood for a no-nonsense breakfast plate, Auntie Sue’s caters well to those who appreciate traditional, honest cooking in a spot where the atmosphere feels like a local kitchen table. Visiting early in the morning or around mid-morning on a weekday seems to catch the café at its most lively yet cozy moment.

Absolutely lovely little spot, don't be deceived by the exterior this is a really nice place and the food was amazing. Had the bubble and squeak with cheese sauce, poached eggs cooked to perfection, cheese sauce was very cheesy and tangy and a good consistency. Fried bread as an extra, again cooked perfectly, nice and crispy and not greasy at all. Overall cleanliness was spot on. Would definitely recommend for a nice bite to eat.

We were just travelling through on a long road trip and found Auntie sue’s cafe off google and decided to grab breakfast and I’m so glad we did, we were welcomed warmly, even though we weren’t regulars we felt like we were, and treated to a lovely fresh made breakfast with very generous portions. Big thank you to auntie sue for fuelling us for the rest of our journey! :)
